Just is Case You Don’t Know…

I’ve been noticing something interesting lately.  The world seems to be on a breaking point.  Globally we have come to a point that is very highly elevated in worry and fear.  Some people may be worried about WW III, but I think once you sit back and look at all the facts things seem less grim, but still pretty scary.  I’m not really into using this as a place for political discussion, but I’m just gonna lay out the facts.  So just in case you missed it this is the recent new that I’m interested in.

Iran

It’s a country that’s in between Iraq and Afghanistan and also the place that George W. Bush put into his “Axis of Evil” when he was talking about places that are believed to support terrorism against the U.S.

Recently they had an election for the election for the President of Iran.  The two major candidates were Mousavi and the incumbent Ahmadinejad.  The results came back with Ahmadinejad as the winner in a landslide.  Protests and riots broke out in Tehran and other parts of Iran.  The supporters of Mousavi are saying that Ahmadinejad cheated the election and should not have won.

They cited many different things including  Ahmadinejad sending food to rural villages to help bolster his votes.  But other than that there have been a lot of interesting things happen.  I’m following various people on Twitter that are from Iran and a couple on facebook.  Some of the things they have posted are just scary and very disturbing. Police shooting students, and other acts of violence against Mousavi supporters and protesters.

The western media and political groups have taken an interest in the happenings in Iran.  And reported on Wednesday that Iran is not happy with all the outside attention, and has warned the West about the negative attention and wants it all to stop.  This of course will be a continuing news story.

I have an Iranian friend who has been very often putting up videos on his social networks about the green revolution. I talked about the state of Iran with him a while back, and as he said to me.

“It is a place that is ruled and governed by a few people with very radical ideas, but the people of Iran are not that way.  We want things to be different.”

Pakistan

Remember Osama Bin Laden… I almost forgot him too.

The CIA believes that Bin Laden is now in Pakistan.  I’m not quite sure how he got there or if he even is there, or if he is even alive.  The CIA has been wrong before.  Oh and Pakistan has a large population of Al-Qiada and Taliban.  So it makes sense that all the “Death to America” people would hang out in the same place.

I’m not saying Pakistan wants to kill the U.S., but they do have live nukes, and we might want to keep them happy.

N. Korea

This is another place that is ruled by a bunch of crazies.  Kim Jong Il has lately been very ill and become weaker and weaker by the week.  They have dissolved a truce with South Korea and also said that they are going to stop shutting down their nuclear programs and continue on working on a long range missile.

The U.S. is in a crazy tango with these guys and N. Korea is looking for any reason to call foul and say the U.S. is agressing.

U.S.

It’s the U.S.  we’re in a very interesting time in our history.  First black president, new healthcare reform, and the gay marriage debate being put into the forefront.  I am interested to see how things finally boil down, but I know that it will be quite and interesting ride.  Obama has his hands tied with so many different things that he says he wants to “Change”.  It’s interesting to see how much thing have stayed the same.

The economic crisis will probably bottom out in December and for once I’m pretty glad I’ll be in grad school.  We’re at a crux in the U.S. history.  We can change, reform and figure out a new way of life, or we can continue down this path and slowly sink into mediocrity as a nation.  We will see.  I hope that my kids are growing up in a better time than I have.  The world has gotten smaller, but is growing exponentially, and eventually like a water balloon…. It’s going to bust.

Don’t Fret…

As much as all this info seems as a downer think of it as more of an informing thing.  I could’ve written a good amount on each one of these things, but I don’t have that much time.  The world is full of very terrible things, but if we are afraid of those things we can’t find the things that are wonderful.

Even after all the darkness falls you can always find light. Sometimes in man’s darkest hours are the times of his greatest triumphs.  So don’t let the darkness consume you… light a candle and keep on walking.
